The Essential Foundation (Level 1) course covers all aspects of the Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) approach. It is designed for educators, clinicians, and other professionals who want to apply the CPS approach with the kids in their lives. Through lectures, role-play, video examples, case studies, and breakout groups, participants learn how to identify whatā€™s really causing unmet expectations and challenging behaviour and how to address those causes using a relational and replicable process. During this training you will: - Understand why a new approach is needed to meet the needs of all children, including those with social, emotional, and behavioural challenges. - Learn how to assess a youthā€™s thinking skills and what are the situations that lead to challenging behaviours. - Be able to tailor interventions based on goals including reducing concerning behaviour, addressing problems and building skills, and relationships. - Begin applying and practicing Collaborative Problem Solving with others to address challenging situations. - Gain exposure to the neurobiology behind CPS and learn how CPS operationalizes the latest research on trauma-informed care.
